3rd Annual Open Access Symposium-UNT Gateway Center-May 21, 2012

Dr Myron Gutman, Keynote speaker, has been the Head of the Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences Directorate of the National Science Foundation since 2009. One of his primary areas of study are digital materials and how they can be properly preserved and shared, as well as how the confidentiality of research subjects can be protected when data about them is made available for secondary use. Gutman also specializes in historical demography and population environment relationships with a focus on Europe and the Americas. This year's Symposium on Open Access will bring together stakeholders from industry, academic research, funding agencies and publishing to explore the implications of emerging trends in research data access, preservation and management. The conference will include several panels of experts, each with a different perspective on data management within the Open Access movement.
